Course Information

If you’ve always wanted a garden but didn’t have the space, a sustainable indoor garden may just be the solution for you. Get those green thumbs out and start your very own garden!

Whether your interest is in edible plants or simply ornamental, learn how to keep your creation free from pesky pests without the use of chemicals. This is a hands-on workshop where you will enjoy preparing your own soil mix, making your own pots using household materials and learning about various methods of plant propagation.

Learning Outcomes

  • Introduction to plant growth requirement – sunlight, water, soil, air circulation
  • Plant selection, preparation of soil mix and containers
  • Maintaining healthy plants
  • Propagation as an alternative to purchasing plants
  • Make your own compost at home using horticulture or kitchen waste (vegetable & fruit scraps)

Lesson Plan

By the end of this course, you will develop the skills to provide good plant care & maintenance, prepare simple compost and soil mix at home, making your own pots using household materials, and propagate plants to start your own indoor garden!

This course will be delivered in English and has NO assessment.


Certificate of Participation will be awarded to participants who achieve at least 75% attendance.


Entry Requirements

Course Fees

Eligible for funding by National Silver Academy. Funding ends 31 Oct 2022.

Singaporeans aged 50 years and above who wish to apply for the course at the special course fee will need to email a copy of their NRIC during the course fee payment before the course commencement.

SkillsFuture Credit
All Singaporeans aged 25 and above can use their $500 SkillsFuture Credit from the government to pay for a wide range of approved skills-related courses. Visit the SkillsFuture Credit website to choose from the courses available on the Training Exchange course directory.
