Course Information

This short course introduces the student to the world of programming and problem solving. Basics programming constructs such as conditionals, loops and functions will be covered. The course takes the lens of data analytics in the delivery of the programming concepts.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the programming development environment;
  • Apply basic language constructs to develop programmes;
  • Implement built-in and user-defined functions;
  • Create basic data visualisations through programming for data analysis;
  • Perform data engineering using programming libraries, including but not limited to numpy and pandas;
  • Develop basic Data Science applications using the programming language and libraries;

A Certificate of Performance will be awarded to participants who achieve at least 75% attendance and pass all required assessment(s).


A Certificate of Participation will be awarded to participants who meet the 75% attendance requirement but did not pass all required assessment(s).


Entry Requirements

You are required to have working knowledge of Microsoft Office e.g. Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Students are required to bring their own laptop.
