Course Information
The 1st Assistant Camera (1st AC), 2nd Assistant Camera (2nd AC) and 3rd Assistant Camera (3rd AC) roles are amongst the most skilled jobs on a film crew set. The Assistant Camera hold an indispensable role on set and good ACs are always in demand. Assistant Cameras are critical to the success of any film or television drama production.
Being part of the camera crew is exciting, varied and demanding, requiring many skills to be successful. To do this role, you will need to:

Learning Outcomes
Participants will be taught about the various cameras, lenses and other related equipment, learn about the core work of both the 1st AC and 2nd AC roles and responsibilities. The course covers industry standard best practice techniques and the latest workflow practices.

- Camera Log sheet functions (why and how to create and fill in log sheets)
- How to clean lenses & filters
- Battery management (charging & maintaining supply)
- Useful attire and accessories for the AC
- How to ‘slate’ correctly
- Proper use of shoot commands
- Setting up a video village (small vs large scale)
- How to calibrate monitor (video village)
- Basic Camera Build
- Procedures to follow when checking/renting/collect camera equipment
- Assisting the 1st AC / 2nd AC (understanding roles)
- Basic Data Wrangling
- Focus pulling techniques
- Understanding camera department discipline, work flow and on-set etiquette

Trainer's Profile
Shawn Kelvin Fonseka started working in the media career in 1998 with a film equipment rental house and has since worked in various crew positions including Production Assistant, Junior Grip, Junior Camera Assistant, Film Clapper Loader roles. And now as a 1st Assistant Camera and Camera Operator. He has assisted and conducted some camera and lighting courses since 2013 including several stints as a teaching assistant for RED cameras and also for ITE College Central for their Filmmaking course.

Entry Requirements
Working knowledge of English and able to use mobile phones, and some familiarity with radio and use of laptop or PC
