Course Information

With digital media having become a staple in our daily lives, this course equips candidates with the relevant digital skillset to pursue a career in this emerging discipline. Candidates will be trained to be competent across the digital media and marketing spectrum, including social media, user experience design, design thinking, online publishing, social advertising, content creation and campaign planning.

Skills-Based Modular Courses (SBMC) are available. Please view Lesson Plan to find relevant SBMC. SBMC are bite-sized part-time courses for individuals to acquire new skills or deepen relevant skills, without the need to pursue a full diploma.

Learning Outcomes

The course equips candidates with the creative, conceptual, and technical skills expected of today’s job seekers in the domain of digital media. This programme is suited to professionals, mid-career switchers, fresh graduates or anyone wanting to acquire the fundamentals of digital marketing and wish to kickstart, or advance, their careers in the digital and creative industries.

This course has been carefully designed to upskill candidates in the various aspects of digital marketing and design through the use of the latest digital media tools and platforms, social media trends, social content, insights, strategies, and more. Candidates will be rigorously trained to build their collaborative skills for working effectively in groups through the study and problem-solving of real-world issues faced by organisations against the backdrop of a digitally-driven economy.

Post Diploma Certificate in Digital Media Marketing (PDC 1)
This certificate aims to equip participants with solid working knowledge of digital marketing. The 3 modules delivered under this PDC are:
  • Digital Media Principles and Practices (4 days)
  • Digital Publishing (3 days)
  • Social Media Marketing (4 days)
Module
Digital Media Principles and Practices
This module focuses on User Experience Design, where candidates will learn best practices to design intuitive digital experiences to achieve increased customer loyalty, and higher retention and conversion rate. From strategic thinking to creative execution, candidates will have a better understanding of audiences' needs and user journeys, and how these align with business or organisational goals.

Digital Publishing
This module covers the fundamentals of graphic communication. Students will learn the creative thinking process and how to communicate and present ideas in different publishing formats. In this module, candidates will learn tools such as Adobe InDesign.
Module
Social Media Marketing
This module exposes candidates to the current digital marketing landscape and helps them develop strategic frameworks and practical skills for conceptualising, planning and implementing winning social media campaigns.

Post Diploma Certificate in Media Design (PDC 2)
This certificate aims to equip participants with design thinking and practical skills in communication design and content development. The 3 modules delivered under this PDC are:
  • New Media Design (4 days)
  • Visual Design (4 days)
  • Studio (3 days)
Module
New Media Design
This module focuses on building practical knowledge in design thinking, which is the human-centred approach to solving business problems. Candidates will be taught how to effectively tackle real-world problems by coming up with solution-driven ideas that are technologically and economically feasible.

Visual Design
This module provides candidates with insights into the mixed discipline of design and digital media to create compelling, contextual content for the creative industries. Candidates will acquire practical skills in motion graphics and video editing using industry standard software such as Adobe After Effects.

Module
Studio (including Research, Portfolio and Branding)
This is the final module of the course, which provides candidates with the opportunity to build a portfolio or a sustainable idea from conception to conclusion. Candidates are guided to apply the learnings from all previous modules in a final project. This module will have them identify organisational, social- or consumer-based problems, opportunities or issues based on a substantial level of structured research, and develop a proposal using digital media and design solutions.

You are required to complete 2 post-diploma certificates within 2-year validity period to be awarded the Diploma (Conversion) qualification.


Entry Requirements

Applicants with any of the following qualifications are invited to apply for the course:

A local Polytechnic Diploma or Degree

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.

SkillsFuture Credit
This course is eligible for SkillsFuture Credit.

All Singaporeans aged 25 years and above can use their $500 SkillsFuture Credit from the government to pay f​or a wide range of courses. The credits can be used on top of existing course fee subsidies/funding. This is only applicable for self-sponsored applicants and must be applied via the SkillsFuture Portal.
